23 handmade letters from Northwest Elementary

The thank you letters were in regards to us helping raise monies to donate to a special book project for Northwest Elementary.   We couldn’t have done this without the help of Lisa Peart, a teacher at the school.

Thank you so much to all of the kids who took the time to create such wonderful letters for us and for sending them to us.  Thank you also to Lisa for helping us create good things for your school.  You all made our day and empowered us to keep doing what we love to do.  You are all blessings.

Prevent Flooding With Hurricane Mesh and Panels

Last week, we talked about hurricane shutters and how they can help protect your home from flood damage in the event of a hurricane.
This week, as promised, we want to talk about another option to protect your home: hurricane mesh and panels.
Both panels and mesh are good budget-conscious alternatives to hurricane panels.

While protecting your windows from impact is one way to prevent water damage to your home during a storm, another solution is to invest in impact-resistant windows.  Check back next week when we discuss impact resistant windows!

Prevent Hurricane Flood Damage Part 1

There are a number of ways to help protect the interior of your home during a rain storm – especially during hurricane season. Today we are going to talk about hurricane proofing your windows to prevent flood & hurricane damage in your home.

While covering up windows with plywood has been a long stand by for protection from an approaching hurricane, there are disadvantages to using it. First off, plywood will not prevent windows from shattering. Also, there is risk that the wood will blow off during a hurricane because it was not fastened properly. Finally, if you are serious about preventing water damage to your property and live in an area where rain is abundant, you need to invest in windows that will protect your home year round.

If you live in an area like the Tampa Bay where hurricanes are a threat, it is best to invest in products made specifically to shield your home during a storm or hurricane.

Window options include: impact-resistant shutters, panels, wind screen and impact-resistant glass. Recently, manufactures have begun to redesign their shutters so as to allow light in and thus provide homeowners who might be boarded up for lengthy periods of time some reprieve. This week, let's take a look at shutters.
