At the site of the 3 bedroom home, we realized that a hose had burst in the laundry room leading to both a flood inside the laundry area itself as well as the garage on the other side of the wall. The hose that had burst was connected to the washing machine. Under consistent water pressure, washing machine hoses can easily lose their integrity. Once a hose is brittle enough to burst, it can fill a house with hundreds of gallons of water per hour. While part of our team worked to stop the flooding, remove the broken hose and replace it, and inspect the washing machine for further damage, our restoration experts worked on water extraction followed by an extensive drying out period.
While we were at the home, we had a hunch that we should check the relative humidity level (amount of water stored in the air) in the house and, as we expected, the level cam in at 68%! In other words, the air in the home is holding 68% water!
